In 1957, APEGA first published the biographies and photos of Council election nominees in the Alberta Professional Engineer.

Membership was growing—it had reached 1,000 in 1952 and now was more than 2,000. Would members be familiar with the candidates?

This practice continues today, but now personal statements and videos are also in the mix and everything appears online. Candidates also use social media to reach out to their professional networks.

By the way, professional membership has increased since 1957. To more than 50,000.
